Cyrus Lavinius Jeremiah Jones founded Bluebell, Alabama in 1702. The town's high school- Cyrus Lavinius Jeremiah Jones High School is named for him, and the Founder's Day Parade celebrates him. He is also responsible for Bluebell's 'Planksgiving' tradition, having created the story of kind pirates who took pity on the town and provided them with food and supplies after a devastating hurricane.
